Mazut M100 is a residual fuel oil defined by GOST 10585-99, and the specification is what buyers actually contract against: sulphur ≤ 0.5%, ≤ 1.0% or ≤ 2.0% depending on the variant nominated, kinematic viscosity ≤ 118 cSt at 50°C, density at 20°C of 0.89–0.99 g/cm³, water content ≤ 1.0%, ash ≤ 0.14%, pour point ≤ 25°C and net calorific value ≥ 9,600 kcal/kg. Sulphur is the variable that moves the price and the variable that decides whether your stack emissions clear the local limit, so it is the first thing to fix in an enquiry. Against D6, M100 is the heavier, higher-viscosity, better-defined product: it needs preheating and proper handling, but the GOST specification gives you a document trail that a vaguely defined "D6" offer does not.
