Sugar
Refined, raw & speciality — cane and beet
CBIL brokers sugar across the full grade ladder, connecting mills, refiners and traders with beverage manufacturers, confectioners, bakers, food processors and retail packers. Sugar is graded on ICUMSA, a colour scale measured in International Units where a lower number means a whiter crystal: ICUMSA 45 is the refined white export benchmark, 100 to 150 covers mill and crystal white, and 600 to 1,200 is raw sugar. Alongside colour sit polarisation, the sucrose percentage that determines value in a raw contract, plus moisture, ash and invert sugar. Two exchanges set the reference: ICE No. 11 in New York prices raw sugar in US cents per pound and ICE No. 5 in London prices white sugar in dollars per tonne, and the gap between them — the white premium — is what a refiner actually earns. Supply moves in 50 kg PP bags, 1 MT jumbo bags, containers and bulk vessels against SGS certification and full export documentation.
