Methanol demand spans formaldehyde and acetic-acid production, MTBE, biodiesel transesterification and marine fuel — and we structure spot and term supply on CIF, CFR and FOB Incoterms into your nominated port or tank farm.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

Which methanol specification does CBIL supply?
Methanol to the IMPCA reference specification, the standard for chemical-grade trade, and US Grade AA at 99.85% minimum purity. The permanganate time test, water, acidity, chlorides and appearance are certified at load. Bio-methanol for marine fuel is a separate product with its own sustainability documentation.
Where does the methanol load?
At Salalah and Sohar in Oman, Point Lisas in Trinidad, the US Gulf Coast and Malaysia. All of these are outside the Strait of Hormuz, which has been severely restricted since 28 February 2026.
What parcel sizes and packing are available?
Chemical parcel tankers carry 3,000 to 25,000 MT parcels in zinc-silicate coated or stainless steel tanks that pass a wall-wash test before loading. Smaller buyers take stainless ISO tank containers of 20 to 26 MT net, or flexitanks.
Which buyers lost Gulf methanol in 2026?
Pakistan took 99% of its 205,000 MT of methanol from Saudi Arabia in 2025, Japan 56% of 1.45 million MT and South Africa all of its 40,000 MT. Those buyers now draw on Oman, Southeast Asia, Trinidad and the US Gulf, and the IMPCA methanol page sets out who buys in each market.
