Refined tin 99.85% to LME and ASTM B339 Grade A and 99.9%+ solder grade, with smelter identification and OECD due diligence

Tin ingot is bought on purity, brand and, more than any other base metal, on where it was mined. The LME contract calls for 99.85% Sn minimum, matching ASTM B339 Grade A and EN 610 Sn99.85; higher grades at 99.90–99.99% Sn with low lead, arsenic and antimony go to lead-free solder and electronics, where the solder alloy's own standard sets the impurity ceiling. Brand matters: ingot from an LME-registered smelter trades at LME plus a premium on a known chemistry, and off-brand tin is bought on the certificate of analysis for that lot and independent assay. Ingots are cast at about 25 kg, stamped with brand and lot, and strapped in bundles of roughly 1 MT. Tin is one of the four 3TG conflict minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold), so a buyer's compliance team will ask which smelter produced the metal before price is discussed. Supply on this page comes with that smelter identified by name and checked against the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) conformant smelter list, and with due-diligence documentation following the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas. EU importers of unwrought tin above the annual volume threshold fall under the EU Conflict Minerals Regulation (EU) 2017/821 and must run and report that due diligence themselves. On the trade, UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 8001 (unwrought tin, unalloyed and alloyed together) sum to USD 5.85 billion and 210,506 MT across the reporting countries, led by Indonesia (USD 1.42 billion; 45,490 MT), Peru (USD 918 million; 30,280 MT), Malaysia (USD 532 million) and Bolivia (USD 529 million; 17,733 MT).

The buyers are solder makers — bar, wire and paste for electronics assembly, plumbing and radiators — tinplate lines at steel mills, tin chemical and PVC stabiliser producers, bronze and bearing-alloy foundries and float-glass plants, in the Gulf, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Africa and Turkiye. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers refined tin ingot from smelter and trader parcels of Indonesian, Malaysian, Peruvian, Thai, Bolivian and Brazilian origin. Every offer is worked against the smelter's certificate of analysis, the brand certificate, a certificate of origin and the conflict-minerals documentation (smelter name and RMI status, and the OECD due-diligence record), and against producer or warehouse documents and inspection rather than a seller's word: tin's high value per tonne makes paper-metal fraud and mislabelled ingot a real risk, so independent weighing and assay at stuffing by SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek is part of a normal contract. Tin moves in strapped bundles on pallets in 20-foot containers, in lots from 5 MT up to about 25 MT, on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Send the purity and standard, your lead and antimony ceilings, brand or smelter requirements, your conflict-minerals reporting obligations, tonnage and discharge port, and the desk matches smelter parcels against them.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

How do I know the tin is conflict-free?

Start with the smelter. Every lot on this page is supplied with the smelter named, and that name is checked against the Responsible Minerals Initiative conformant smelter list, which records smelters that have passed an independent audit of their ore sourcing. Ask as well for the smelter's due-diligence documentation under the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas. A seller who cannot name the smelter is not offering traceable tin.

Does the EU Conflict Minerals Regulation apply to my tin imports?

It applies to EU importers of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold whose annual imports of a listed product exceed the volume threshold in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2017/821. An importer above the threshold must run supply-chain due diligence, have it audited and report on it. Buyers outside the EU often face the same questions from their own customers, for example electronics makers reporting under US rules, so the smelter identity and due-diligence record are worth holding either way.

What is the difference between 99.85% and 99.9% tin?

99.85% Sn is the LME grade and ASTM B339 Grade A, used for tinplate, chemicals and general alloys. 99.9% and higher grades carry less lead, antimony and arsenic and go into lead-free solder and electronics, where impurities affect wetting and joint reliability; they trade at a premium to the LME grade. Specify the impurity ceilings from your solder standard, not just the tin content.

How is tin ingot priced?

Off the LME tin cash or three-month price, fixed or averaged over a quotation period, plus a premium for brand, purity, origin and delivery region. Because tin trades at many times the price of zinc or lead per tonne, weights and assay carry more money per kilogram, and independent weighing and assay at loading is worth writing into the contract.
