CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers semi-finished, long and flat steel: continuous-cast billets (3SP, 5SP, Q235 / Q275) for re-rolling mills, deformed rebar (BS 4449 B500B, ASTM A615 Grade 60, IS 1786 Fe 500) for contractors and stockists, wire rod (SAE 1006 / 1008, mesh and high-carbon grades) for wire drawers and mesh plants, plate (AH36 / DH36, S355, ASTM A516) for shipyards and fabricators, hot-rolled coil (SS400, S235JR, ASTM A36, SAE 1006 / 1008) for pipe mills and cold rollers, cold-rolled coil (SPCC / DC01–DC04, ASTM A1008, full hard or annealed) for tube, appliance and coating lines, and hot-dip galvanized, galvalume and pre-painted coil (SGCC / DX51D+Z, Z60–Z275, AZ150, PPGI / PPGL) for roofing, panel and appliance makers. The 2025 export declarations put the seaborne trade at 7.40 Mt of billets from Brazil, 4.42 Mt of rebar and 3.76 Mt of coil from Turkiye, 2.94 Mt of coil from Indonesia, 1.72 Mt of rebar from Malaysia and 1.46 Mt from Oman, and 1.29 Mt of wire rod from Malaysia, with Omani DRI-based mills declaring USD 100–200/MT above scrap-based Southeast Asian origins. In flat products, 2024 export declarations put coated flat steel (HS 7210) at USD 51.1 bn and 49.5 Mt, led by China, Korea, Germany, Japan and Belgium, and cold-rolled flat steel (HS 7209) at USD 13.9 bn and 15.3 Mt, led by China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Germany. In pipe, sections, stainless and tinplate, 2024 export declarations put seamless tubes and pipes (HS 7304) at USD 24.95 bn led by China, Japan, Germany and Italy, large welded pipe (HS 7305) at USD 7.90 bn led by Germany, China and India, other welded tubes and hollow sections (HS 7306) at USD 23.75 bn led by Italy and China, angles, shapes and sections (HS 7216) at USD 15.45 bn led by China, Spain and Germany, and stainless flat of 600 mm and wider (HS 7219) at USD 31.22 bn led by Indonesia, China and Belgium; CBIL brokers seamless OCTG casing and tubing (API 5CT J55–P110) and API 5L line pipe, ERW, LSAW and SSAW pipe, EN 10219 hollow sections and GI pipe, IPE / HEA / HEB, UB / UC and W-beams, angles and channels, 304 / 316L / 430 / 201 stainless coil and sheet, and electrolytic tinplate and TFS for can makers. EU imports fall under the tariff-quota regime with a 50% out-of-quota duty from 1 July 2026 and the CBAM definitive period from 1 January 2026, and US imports under Section 232. In electrical steel, bars and wire, 2024 export declarations put grain-oriented electrical sheet (HS 7225.11) at USD 3.10 bn led by China and Japan, non-oriented sheet (HS 7225.19) at USD 2.35 bn led by China, Korea and Taiwan, hot-rolled alloy bars (HS 7228.30) at USD 5.84 bn led by China, bright stainless bars (HS 7222.20) at USD 3.85 bn led by Italy and India, stainless wire (HS 7223.00) at USD 2.39 bn led by India and China, and zinc-coated wire (HS 7217.20) at USD 2.38 bn led by China and Türkiye; CBIL brokers CRGO and CRNO electrical steel for transformer and motor makers, 4140 / 42CrMo4 and 4340 alloy bars, 304 / 316 / 410 / 420 stainless bars and wire, and galvanized wire and PC strand for fencing, conductor and prestressed-concrete buyers, and in the United States anti-dumping orders apply to non-oriented electrical steel from six origins, to stainless steel bar from India and to PC strand from more than twenty origins. Every parcel is contracted against mill test certificates (EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2) to the named standard, with the country of melt and pour stated on the certificate (the basis of the UK and EU steel import checks, with EU CBAM emissions data for EU imports), and third-party inspection. Flat coil moves in 20-foot containers or breakbulk, long and semi-finished steel in breakbulk, and because CBIL runs a chartering desk the Handysize, Supramax or multipurpose freight is quoted with the cargo on FOB, CFR and CIF terms.
