Aluminium Sheet, Coil & Foil

Rolled aluminium is one metal sold as three products with three different buyers. Sheet and coil over 0.2 mm, declared under HS 7606, is bought on alloy, temper and gauge: 1050, 1060 and 1100 for reflectors, jacketing and general fabrication, 3003 and 3105 for roofing, cladding, HVAC and colour-coating substrate, 5052 and 5083 for marine and transport, and 6061 for structural parts, with tempers designated to EN 515 and chemistry, mechanical properties and tolerances to EN 573-3, EN 485 or ASTM B209. Circles and discs cut from the same stock, for cookware, pressure cookers, lighting and traffic signs, stay under HS 7606 as non-rectangular sheet and are bought on DC or CC casting route, earing and surface to EN 941. Foil of 0.2 mm and under, declared under HS 7607 whether or not backed, is bought on application: 8011 and 1235 household foil, 8011, 8006 and 3003 container foil, 8079 and 1235 converter foil, and 8021 and 8079 pharmaceutical foil, with food-contact compliance to EU Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and FDA requirements. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations put HS 7606 at USD 34.5 billion and 8.35 million MT, led by China (30.1% by value), Germany (15.8%), the USA (8.8%) and Korea (7.4%), and HS 7607 at USD 13.3 billion and 2.77 million MT, led by China (42.7%), Germany (12.7%) and Italy (5.6%).

The buyers are roofing and cladding fabricators, truck-body, marine and HVAC manufacturers, cookware and utensil makers, packaging converters, container-foil and household-foil rewinders, pharmaceutical blister packers and the distributors that stock sheet, coil and jumbo rolls for smaller users. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers aluminium sheet, coil, circles and foil from rolling mills, foil mills and mill-affiliated traders to those buyers against a mill test certificate that reports alloy, temper, chemistry and mechanical properties and states the country where the primary aluminium was smelted and the country where it was cast, with no metal of excluded origin in the chain. Rolled aluminium is covered by the EU carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), so EU importers need the producer's embedded-emissions data, and anti-dumping or countervailing duties on sheet and foil from certain origins apply in several destinations, which the buyer checks for the specific mill and origin before contracting. Cargo moves in fumigated wooden cases or eye-to-sky on wooden pallets in 20-ft containers, on FOB, CFR and CIF terms.
