Limestone, gypsum and aggregates are the cheapest cargoes on the water and the hardest to land well. UN Comtrade, 2025 export declarations: Oman shipped 9.17 million MT of limestone (HS 2521) at USD 7/MT, 14.32 million MT of gypsum (HS 2520) at USD 14 and 12.02 million MT of aggregates (HS 2517) at USD 6; India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Morocco make up most of the rest. At those values a Supramax carries USD 300,000–800,000 of rock and the freight to India, Bangladesh, Southeast Asia or East Africa is usually more than the cargo, so the delivered price is decided by the vessel: geared or gearless, discharge draft, loading rate, laytime. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company that also runs a chartering desk (LaycanDesk); we are working Shinas and Sohar limestone to Chittagong and Oman boulder cargoes now, and we quote the stone and the ship together against SGS or Intertek chemistry, sizing and mechanical-test certificates on FOB, CFR and CIF terms.
