Barley & Sorghum

Feed barley, malting barley & sorghum in Handysize to Panamax lots

CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers the three grain trades that share a hold but not a buyer: feed barley bought whole by Gulf sheep and camel feeders and ground by compound feed mills, malting barley bought by maltsters and breweries on germination, protein and named variety, and grain sorghum (milo) bought by Chinese feed groups and baijiu distillers and by East African millers as a corn substitute and a food grain. The seaborne supply is concentrated in a few origins. UN Comtrade 2025 export declarations under HS 1003 show Australia at 8.94 million MT (USD 242/MT average), Argentina at 2.75 million MT (USD 226), Canada at 2.42 million MT (USD 246) and Kazakhstan at 1.75 million MT (USD 184); under HS 1007 Australia exported 2.37 million MT of sorghum at USD 280/MT and Argentina 1.18 million MT at USD 209. Australia's own 2025 destinations run China 6.52 million MT, Saudi Arabia 0.59 million MT and Japan 0.54 million MT for barley, and China 2.24 million MT for sorghum. We work each enquiry against SGS or Intertek certification at the load port on GAFTA or the buyer's own terms, structure Handysize, Supramax and Panamax parcels on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, and because CBIL also runs a chartering desk (LaycanDesk) the freight leg is quoted with the cargo.
