Molasses
Cane & beet molasses in tanker parcels and flexitanks
CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers the two molasses trades that share an HS heading and a tanker but not a buyer: blackstrap cane molasses (HS 1703.10), bought on total sugars as invert and ash by distilleries, feed mills and rum producers, and sugar-beet molasses (HS 1703.90), bought on sucrose, betaine and nitrogen by yeast plants, fermentation and betaine extractors. UN Comtrade 2025 export declarations under HS 1703 show Indonesia at 0.76 million MT (USD 128/MT average), Thailand at 0.49 million MT (USD 139), Australia at 0.21 million MT (USD 161), Canada at 0.13 million MT (USD 117) and India at 51,000 MT (USD 197); Indonesia's own 2025 destinations run to the Philippines, Korea, the Netherlands, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and Japan. Molasses is a liquid bulk cargo, so every enquiry is worked against SGS or Intertek certification at the shore tank and the ship's manifold and structured in molasses and chemical tanker parcels on FOB and CFR terms, or in flexitanks below tanker size; because CBIL also runs a chartering desk (LaycanDesk) that works product and chemical tankers, the freight leg is quoted with the cargo.
Need the ship as well? Our chartering desk prices vegetable oil and molasses tanker chartering on LaycanDesk.
