Manuka & Premium Monofloral Honey (Manuka, Sidr, Acacia, Black Forest)

New Zealand manuka graded to the MPI definition and MGO or UMF, with Sidr, acacia and Black Forest honey on a verified file

Premium monofloral honey is sold on a claim, and the claim is only worth what the laboratory file proves. Manuka is the clearest case because New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries set a scientific definition that every export lot must pass: at least 5 mg/kg of 2'-methoxyacetophenone, 1 mg/kg of 2-methoxybenzoic acid, 20 mg/kg of 3-phenyllactic acid and 1 mg/kg of 4-hydroxyphenyllactic acid, plus manuka pollen DNA, with 3-phenyllactic acid at 400 mg/kg or more separating monofloral from multifloral manuka. Potency is sold on methylglyoxal, MGO in mg/kg, or on the UMF grade administered by the UMF Honey Association, which tests MGO, leptosperin, DHA and HMF and licenses its mark to New Zealand-packed product; its published equivalence runs from UMF 5+ at 83 mg/kg MGO through UMF 10+ at 261, UMF 15+ at 512 and UMF 20+ at 826 to UMF 25+ at 1,197. HS 0409.00 covers all natural honey, and UN Comtrade 2024 declarations put New Zealand second among exporters by value at USD 251 million on only 10,800 MT, against China's USD 265 million on 169,600 MT. Sidr honey from Ziziphus spina-christi is priced in the Gulf as a premium honey, and studies of Sidr sold in the Saudi market tested samples imported from 12 countries and found wide variation; syrup adulteration and origin claims both need verification by pollen analysis and sugar profiling. Acacia honey from Robinia pseudoacacia, the pale, slow-crystallising honey of Hungary and Romania, and Black Forest fir honey, a honeydew honey protected in the EU as Schwarzwälder Tannenhonig, complete the premium list.

The buyer is a Gulf, Asian or European importer, a pharmacy, health-food or gifting distributor, a hotel supplier or a private-label desk. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers premium honey from New Zealand packers, Hungarian and Romanian acacia producers and verified Sidr producers, in the packer's own label or the buyer's private label where the grading scheme allows it, against the origin health certificate, the MPI export certificate and manuka test report for New Zealand product, a certificate of analysis with pollen analysis and sugar profile for every other claim, a certificate of origin and a halal certificate where required. EU-bound lots come from origins listed for honey in Annex -I to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/405, carry residue results against Regulation (EU) 2019/1871 for chloramphenicol and nitrofurans, and from 14 June 2026 follow the origin labelling of Directive (EU) 2024/1438; Gulf labels follow GSO 9 and the honey GSO 147; US shipments need FDA facility registration and prior notice. No grade number or marker value is offered without the test report that carries it. Jars, tubs and drums move in 20-ft dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms; minimum lots are confirmed per product and pack. Send the honey, grade or MGO band, pack, label and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
