Guar Gum & Gum Arabic

Guar gum, guar splits and meal, gum arabic and locust bean gum, bought on viscosity, species and purity

Plant gums are thickeners and emulsifiers sold by the bag on a certificate of analysis, and three of them carry most of the trade. Guar gum is the ground endosperm of the guar seed: APEDA puts India at 80% of world guar output, 72% of it from Rajasthan, with Pakistan the other origin, and reports that around 90% of India's guar gum exports go to oil and shale gas extraction, where the gum thickens fracturing fluid; India exported 474,519 MT worth USD 550 million in FY25. Food grades (E412) are bought on viscosity of a 1% solution, published by Jodhpur mills from 3,500 to 8,000 cps at 200-300 mesh, and on the EU purity criteria of Regulation (EU) No 231/2012; oilfield grades on hydration rate, with HPG and CMHPG derivatives for high-temperature fluids; and the seed's germ and hull become guar korma and churi protein meal for cattle feed. Gum arabic (HS 1301.20, E414) is the exudate of Acacia senegal, the hashab or Kordofan gum, and Acacia seyal, the talha, sold raw as hand-picked selected, cleaned and siftings or processed in Europe into spray-dried powder; Regulation (EU) 2026/196 tightened its EU heavy metal limits from 18 August 2026. Locust bean gum (E410) comes from carob seeds around the Mediterranean. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations put HS 1302.32, guar and locust bean gum together, at USD 946 million, led by India at USD 417 million, and HS 1301.20 at USD 348 million, led by France at USD 255 million.

The buyers are dairy, bakery, beverage, confectionery and pharmaceutical manufacturers, oilfield, textile, paper and explosives chemical suppliers, feed millers and ingredient distributors. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers gums against the producer's certificate of analysis for viscosity, species, moisture, protein, microbiology and heavy metals, a certificate of origin, and halal, kosher and food safety certificates where the buyer requires them. Before April 2023 Sudan supplied an estimated 70-80% of world gum arabic exports; with targeted US, EU and UN sanctions on named Sudanese persons and entities and reports of gum being relabelled in neighbouring countries, gum arabic lots are traced to the collection area and every party is screened before a contract. Indian guar gum for the EU is checked against the entry conditions of Regulation (EU) 2019/1793. Bags move palletised in 20-ft dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, priced per MT on grade, with NCDEX guar futures read as a reference only. Send the gum, grade, specification standard, volume and discharge port.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
