Pasta, noodles and couscous are HS 1902, and they trade by the carton and the bag in 20-ft and 40-ft dry containers under the factory's brand or the buyer's private label. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations put the whole heading at USD 15.98 billion and about 8.23 million MT, with Italy at 29.4%, the Republic of Korea 9.3%, China 8.4%, Türkiye 5.8% and Thailand 4.6%. At 6-digit level, uncooked pasta without egg (1902.19), which holds durum wheat pasta and dried rice noodles, comes to USD 6.40 billion, led by Italy and Türkiye; other pasta (1902.30), which holds instant noodles, to USD 5.75 billion, led by the Republic of Korea, China, Thailand and Indonesia; egg pasta (1902.11) to USD 790 million; and couscous (1902.40) to USD 232 million, led by Italy, Morocco, France and Tunisia.
The buyers are importer-distributors, wholesalers, food-service distributors and supermarket private-label desks. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers five product groups: durum wheat pasta, egg pasta, instant noodles, rice noodles and rice vermicelli, and couscous. Each lot moves against the competent-authority health certificate, the factory's certificate of analysis, a certificate of origin, a halal certificate from a body the destination accepts, and label artwork checked for the market before printing. Italian DPR 187/2001 sets durum pasta at 12.5% moisture maximum and 10.5% protein minimum on dry matter, and egg pasta at 200 g of egg per kg of semolina. For the EU, Regulation (EU) 2023/915 sets 600 µg/kg deoxynivalenol for dry pasta and 3.0 µg/kg ochratoxin A for products derived from unprocessed cereals; gluten and egg are emphasised under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011; and instant noodles are tested for ethylene oxide after the 2021-22 RASFF withdrawals. Halal instant noodles need the seasoning and oil certified, and Gulf labels follow GSO 9 in Arabic. Minimum orders are confirmed per product and pack. Cartons ship palletised or floor-loaded in dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Send the product, pack, label market, carton count and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.
Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
