Specialty Resins & Cellulose Derivatives: Acrylic Emulsions, PVA & VAE, PVOH, Silicones, Hydrocarbon Resins, CMC & HPMC

Acrylic and vinyl emulsions, PVOH, silicones, hydrocarbon resins and cellulose ethers, bought on the grade sheet

Specialty resins are bought on a data sheet, not on a tonnage. Acrylic emulsions are the binders of latex paints and water-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, matched on solids, Tg and MFFT, and PMMA resin is extruded into acrylic sheet or moulded into lenses; polyvinyl acetate emulsion is wood and paper glue, VAE is sold as dispersions and as the powders that bind dry-mix mortars, and polyvinyl alcohol is graded on degree of hydrolysis and 4% solution viscosity; silicones run from PDMS fluids to solid, liquid and RTV silicone rubber and the bases sealant makers compound; hydrocarbon resins are the C5, C9, DCPD and hydrogenated tackifiers and binders of hot-melt adhesives, road-marking paint, rubber and inks, sold on ring-and-ball softening point and Gardner colour; and CMC and HPMC are the cellulose ethers of detergents, drilling fluids, tile adhesives, food and tablets. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers acrylic polymers (HS 3906.10 and 3906.90), vinyl acetate polymers and PVOH (HS 3905.12, 3905.21, 3905.29 and 3905.30), silicones (HS 3910.00), petroleum resins (HS 3911.10) and cellulose ethers (HS 3912.31 and 3912.39) against the producer's certificate of analysis, safety data sheets, certificates of origin, REACH statements for EU imports, where polymers are exempt from registration, and US 21 CFR food-contact declarations where the end use needs them. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations put HS 3910.00 silicones at about USD 6.61 billion, with China at USD 1.45 billion and the USA at USD 1.39 billion; HS 3912.39 cellulose ethers at USD 2.98 billion, led by Germany at USD 749 million; HS 3911.10 petroleum resins at USD 2.04 billion, led by China at USD 675 million; HS 3906.10 PMMA at USD 1.29 billion, led by Korea at USD 286 million; HS 3905.30 polyvinyl alcohol at USD 1.27 billion, led by China at USD 367 million; and HS 3912.31 CMC at USD 1.05 billion, led by China at USD 280 million.

Trade remedies shape some routes: the USA has kept anti-dumping duty orders on polyvinyl alcohol from Japan and China since 2003, the EU has applied anti-dumping duties on certain polyvinyl alcohols from China since 2020 with an expiry review opened in September 2025, India has applied anti-dumping duty on silicone sealants from China since December 2021, and Korea opened an anti-dumping investigation into petroleum resins from China and Taiwan in August 2024; the duty at destination is checked for each route before an origin is fixed. Emulsions and fluids move in drums and IBCs, and resins, powders and cellulose ethers in 25 kg bags, in containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Vinyl acetate monomer is on the petrochemicals page; polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, PET, polystyrene, ABS, polycarbonate, nylon 6 and MDI/TDI are on the polymers page; and guar gum and its oilfield derivatives are on the gums and hydrocolloids page. Pricing is per MT on grade, pack and origin, and minimum quantities are confirmed per product and pack. Send the product, grade limits, end use, pack, monthly volume and discharge port.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
