Canned Vegetables, Beans & Table Olives
Canned chickpeas and beans, sweet corn, peas, mushrooms and table olives by the carton in dry containers
Canned vegetables and beans are a shelf-stable container trade bought by the carton, and five packs carry most of the enquiries: canned beans and chickpeas (HS 2005.51 for Phaseolus and Vigna beans, 2005.59 for other beans, 2005.99 for chickpeas and fava beans), sweet corn (HS 2005.80), garden peas (HS 2005.40) and mixed vegetables (HS 2005.99), Agaricus mushrooms (HS 2003.10), and table olives (HS 2005.70, or 2001.90 in vinegar). All are bought on the net and drained weight, the style and the packing medium, in 400 g or 425 ml retail cans and A10 or 2.5 kg catering cans with easy-open ends and BPA-NI linings, and all except acid packs are low-acid foods retorted to commercial sterility. The Codex references are CXS 297-2009 for certain canned vegetables, which carries sweet corn, garden peas and mushrooms as annexes, and CXS 66-1981 for table olives. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations put HS 2005 at USD 12.1 billion (China 16.3%, Spain 13.4%, the Netherlands 9%, Italy 8.2%, the USA 5%), with sweet corn at USD 1.21 billion (Hungary USD 265 million, Thailand USD 237 million, France USD 194 million, China USD 193 million), shelled beans at USD 882 million (Italy USD 355 million), peas at USD 312 million (Hungary USD 68 million), table olives at USD 2.91 billion (Spain USD 1.02 billion, Greece USD 753 million) and, under HS 2003.10, mushrooms at USD 843 million (China USD 392 million, the Netherlands USD 235 million).
The buyers are importer-distributors, wholesalers, supermarket private-label desks, pizza and foodservice chains and ready-meal makers in the Gulf, Africa, South Asia and Europe. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers canned vegetables, beans and olives in the cannery's brand or the buyer's private label, against the origin authority's health certificate, the cannery's certificate of analysis for drained weight, vacuum and seam checks, a certificate of origin and a halal certificate from a body the destination accepts. EU-bound cans are tested against Regulation (EU) 2023/915, which caps inorganic tin in canned food other than beverages at 200 mg/kg and sets lead limits by food group; Gulf labels follow GSO 9 with Arabic text and production and expiry dates; US-bound cans need the cannery's FDA food canning establishment registration and a scheduled process filed under 21 CFR 108, 113 and 114; and ripe olives from Spain entering the USA carry anti-dumping and countervailing duties at company-specific rates. Cartons move palletised or floor-loaded in 20-ft or 40-ft dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, and minimum runs are confirmed per product and pack. Send the product, style, can size, drained weight, label and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.
Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
