Low-Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (DMA 0.10% / MGO)

ISO 8217:2017 DMA grade | ECA-compliant marine bunkering for coastal & ocean tonnage

Low-Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (DMA / MGO, HS 2710.19) is a clean, 100% distillate marine bunker fuel refined to satisfy the stringent requirements of ISO 8217:2017 Grade DMA and the International Maritime Organization's MARPOL Annex VI regulations. Operating within designated Emission Control Areas (ECAs)—including the Baltic Sea, North Sea, North American coastlines, and Caribbean Sea ECA—ocean vessels are legally prohibited from burning fuel with a sulphur content exceeding 0.10% m/m (1,000 ppm) unless fitted with operational exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers). Grade DMA marine gas oil provides the universal compliance solution: a clear and bright distillate fuel requiring no fuel tank pre-heating, complex fuel switching systems, or exhaust scrubbing chemistry.

CBIL coordinates physical marine gas oil stems and coastal tanker parcels at key international maritime crossroads and bunkering roadsteads: Fujairah and Khor Fakkan (UAE), Sohar and Salalah (Oman), Singapore, Rotterdam / Antwerp, Gibraltar / Algeciras, and Port Said / Suez Canal anchorage. Cargoes feature a guaranteed minimum flash point of 60.0°C conforming strictly to SOLAS safety requirements for shipboard machinery spaces, density at 15°C capped at ≤ 890.0 kg/m³, kinematic viscosity at 40°C controlled between 2.000 and 6.000 mm²/s, and cold flow properties (pour point ≤ 0°C summer / ≤ -6°C winter) engineered to prevent wax separation in unheated bunker double-bottom tanks. Consignments are independently sampled and certified under Marpol Annex VI bunker sampling guidelines, accompanied by a Bunker Delivery Note (BDN) and certified laboratory COA.

Low-Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (DMA 0.10% / MGO) — buyer questions

What is the key difference between automotive EN590 diesel and marine DMA gas oil?

While EN590 automotive diesel mandates a maximum sulphur content of 10 ppm (0.001%) and a minimum flash point of 55°C, marine DMA allows up to 1,000 ppm (0.10%) sulphur under IMO ECA limits and legally requires a higher flash point of at least 60.0°C to satisfy international maritime SOLAS fire safety regulations in engine rooms. EN590 can be burned in marine engines only if its flash point is certified above 60°C, whereas DMA is specifically tailored to marine auxiliaries and propulsion machinery.

How are bunker delivery quantities and quality legally documented?

Every marine fueling operation is documented via a statutory Bunker Delivery Note (BDN), which must be retained on board for at least three years under MARPOL Annex VI. An official continuous drip sample is drawn during the entire transfer at the vessel manifold using an approved bunker sampler, sealed with tamper-evident serialised tags in four identical bottles (for vessel, supplier, MARPOL statutory verification, and independent laboratory testing).
