Corn Gluten Meal 60% Protein
60% protein wet-milling co-product for poultry & aqua feed
Corn gluten meal is the high-protein co-product of corn wet milling, and it is specified on crude protein at 60% minimum (some lots run 62–65%), moisture at 12% maximum, crude fat around 2–3%, crude fibre at 3% maximum and ash below 3%, with a bright yellow colour from xanthophyll that is itself a selling point for egg-yolk and broiler-skin pigmentation. Aflatoxin and other mycotoxins concentrate in the meal relative to the grain, so their limits are tighter and more often tested than on corn itself. Two other products come out of the same mill and are sometimes confused with it: corn gluten feed, at 18–22% protein with the bran and steep liquor, a cheaper ruminant and swine ingredient; and DDGS from ethanol dry-milling, at 26–30% protein. All three have their uses; only the meal is a 60% protein product.
Buy corn gluten meal as a concentrated protein and pigment source for poultry rations, as a fishmeal replacement in aquafeed where its amino-acid profile (high in methionine, low in lysine) is balanced with other proteins, and as a pet-food ingredient; buy gluten feed for cattle and swine rations and DDGS where price per unit of protein wins. Supply comes from wet millers in the United States, China, Europe and Turkey, in bulk for the larger feed groups and in jumbo bags and 50 kg bags by container for everyone else. CBIL brokers corn gluten meal, gluten feed and DDGS against independent certification of protein, moisture, fat, fibre, ash, colour and the mycotoxin panel at load, in bulk, jumbo bags and 50 kg bags on FOB, CFR and CIF terms.

Corn Gluten Meal 60% Protein — buyer questions
What is the difference between gluten meal, gluten feed and DDGS?
Protein and process. Gluten meal is the 60% protein fraction from wet milling; gluten feed is the 18–22% bran-and-steep fraction from the same mill; DDGS is the 26–30% residue of ethanol dry milling. They price and formulate very differently, and a supplier quoting 'corn gluten' without the protein figure is not quoting a product. Specify the protein and the process.
Why is corn gluten meal used in poultry feed?
Two reasons: a concentrated, digestible protein rich in methionine, and the xanthophyll pigment that colours egg yolks and broiler skin, which some markets pay for directly. Its weakness is low lysine, so it is balanced with soybean meal or synthetic amino acids rather than used alone. In aquafeed it replaces part of the fishmeal for the same reasons.
How tight are the mycotoxin limits?
Tighter than on the grain, because milling concentrates them into the protein fraction. Aflatoxin at 20 ppb is common, 10 ppb for layers and dairy, with fumonisin and zearalenone capped for swine. Buy on an independent certificate at load and reject on it; a lot that is over the limit cannot be blended back into compliance legally in most markets.
How is it packed for export?
In bulk for the large feed groups with silo discharge; otherwise in 1 MT jumbo bags or 50 kg bags in containers, which is most of the trade. The meal is a fine, light powder that dusts and bridges, so buyers without pneumatic handling generally prefer bags. Keep it dry: at 12% moisture it stores well, above that it heats.
