Copper Tubes for HVAC & Plumbing (ACR to ASTM B280, Level-Wound Coils, EN 1057)

Seamless refined copper tube: ACR coils and straight lengths, inner-grooved equipment tube and plumbing tube

Copper tube is bought on the standard it is drawn to, because the standard fixes the copper, the cleanliness and the form. HS 7411.10 covers tubes and pipes of refined copper, and every standard on this page covers seamless tube. ACR tube for installers follows ASTM B280, the specification for seamless copper tube for the connection, repair or alteration of air-conditioning and refrigeration units in the field, in C10200 oxygen-free, C12000 or C12200 phosphorus-deoxidised copper: coils are bright annealed after coiling, dehydrated and closed at both ends, and hard-drawn straight lengths are cleaned and capped or plugged, with eddy-current and cleanness tests. In North America, ACR tube is sized by its actual outside diameter. The European standard for refrigeration and air-conditioning piping is EN 12735-1, covering tubes from 3 mm to 219 mm outside diameter, in Cu-DHP straight lengths hard or half-hard and coils annealed. Equipment makers buy to EN 12735-2, seamless round copper tube, smooth or inner finned, for heat exchangers and their internal connecting pipes, from 3.97 mm to 219 mm, in hard, half-hard or skin-hard straight lengths or light or soft annealed coils, and to ASTM B743, seamless copper tube in coils for refrigeration, air conditioning and other uses. Coiled tube also trades as level-wound coil, which in the USA is further processed and sold as line sets. Plumbing tube is a separate order: EN 1057 covers seamless round copper tube from 6 mm to 267 mm for hot and cold water networks, hot water heating including panel heating, domestic gas and liquid fuel distribution and waste water sanitation, including tube to be pre-insulated, and ASTM B88 water tube comes as Type K with the thickest wall, Type L for residential and commercial water supply and Type M, thinner again, for low-pressure heating. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 7411.10 total USD 7.34 billion and 653,300 MT across 89 reporters: China USD 2.48 billion and 245,100 MT, Greece USD 612 million and 57,700 MT, Italy USD 590 million and 48,000 MT, Thailand USD 569 million and 52,000 MT, Germany USD 550 million and 48,000 MT, Korea USD 449 million, Malaysia USD 335 million, the USA USD 264 million and Mexico USD 113 million. Viet Nam filed no 2024 export data under this code, but importers declared USD 1.29 billion and 127,600 MT of copper tube from Viet Nam, India alone USD 690 million. Those are declared trade values, not offers.

The buyers are air-conditioner and refrigeration equipment makers and coil shops, HVAC distributors supplying installers, plumbing and heating wholesalers and pre-insulated tube makers, in the Gulf, South and Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe. Destination duty is the first check. The USA has anti-dumping duty orders on seamless refined copper pipe and tube from China and Mexico, published in November 2010 and continued in May 2022, and from Viet Nam since August 2021, whose first five-year review the US International Trade Commission opened on 1 July 2026; the orders cover tube made to ASTM B88, B280, B743 and other listed specifications, and cash deposit rates are set exporter by exporter in US Department of Commerce reviews. Separately, the US Section 232 tariff has applied since 6 April 2026 at 50% to the full customs value of most goods in HS chapter 74. The US importer's customs broker confirms both for the named mill and tube before the contract. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers ACR, equipment and plumbing tube from mills and mill-affiliated traders in China, Viet Nam, Greece, Italy, Germany, Thailand, Korea, Malaysia and Mexico, against the mill's inspection document under EN 10204 reporting the standard, copper grade, temper, dimensions and test results, and a certificate of origin. Price is the copper, against the LME copper price over an agreed period, plus the mill's fabrication charge for size, wall, temper and form. Coils and straight lengths are packed in cartons, on pallets or in wooden cases with the ends closed, and shipped in 20-ft or 40-ft containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms; minimum lots are confirmed per product and pack. Send the standard, copper grade, outside diameter and wall, temper, coils or straight lengths, smooth or inner-grooved, monthly tonnage and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

Copper Tubes for HVAC & Plumbing (ACR to ASTM B280, Level-Wound Coils, EN 1057) — buyer questions

What is the difference between ACR tube and plumbing tube?

ACR tube to ASTM B280 is made for the connection and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration units in the field: coils are bright annealed, dehydrated and closed at both ends, straight lengths are cleaned and capped, and in North America it is sized by actual outside diameter. Plumbing tube is ordered to EN 1057, which covers 6 mm to 267 mm tube for water, heating and domestic gas, or to ASTM B88, sold as Types K, L and M by wall thickness.

Which standard covers inner-grooved tube for heat exchangers?

EN 12735-2 covers seamless round copper tubes, smooth or inner finned, for heat exchangers and their internal connecting pipes in refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, from 3.97 mm to 219 mm outside diameter, in hard, half-hard or skin-hard straight lengths or light or soft annealed coils. ASTM B743 covers seamless copper tube in coils for refrigeration, air conditioning and other uses, in C10200, C10300, C10800, C12000 and C12200. State the groove geometry from your own drawing in the order.

Do US anti-dumping duties apply to copper tube?

Yes, from three origins. Anti-dumping duty orders on seamless refined copper pipe and tube from China and Mexico were published on 22 November 2010 and continued on 23 May 2022, and an order on Viet Nam was issued on 13 August 2021, with its first five-year review instituted on 1 July 2026. The orders cover tube to ASTM B88, B280, B743 and other listed specifications. Separately, the Section 232 tariff has applied since 6 April 2026 at 50% of full customs value to most goods in HS chapter 74. Rates change with reviews and proclamations, so the US importer's customs broker confirms them for the named mill and tube.

Which countries export copper tube?

UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 7411.10 put China first at USD 2.48 billion, then Greece at USD 612 million, Italy at USD 590 million, Thailand at USD 569 million, Germany at USD 550 million, Korea at USD 449 million, Malaysia at USD 335 million and Mexico at USD 113 million. Viet Nam filed no 2024 export data, but importers declared USD 1.29 billion of copper tube from it, with India taking USD 690 million.
