Durum Wheat Pasta (Spaghetti, Penne, Fusilli, Macaroni; Bronze and Teflon Die)
Dry durum semolina pasta in long and short cuts, by the bag, the carton and the container
Dry pasta without egg is HS 1902.19, uncooked pasta not stuffed or otherwise prepared, and it is the largest single line in the pasta heading. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 1902.19 total USD 6.40 billion and about 4.95 million MT across 118 reporters. Italy declared USD 3.18 billion and 2.11 million MT, 49.7% of the value; Türkiye USD 855 million and 1.35 million MT; the USA USD 179 million; Spain USD 154 million and 128,600 MT; Egypt USD 129 million and 83,800 MT; Greece USD 93 million and 78,500 MT; Mexico USD 62 million and 45,900 MT; and Tunisia USD 43 million and 25,800 MT. Quality is set by the wheat and the die. Italian law, DPR 187/2001, reserves the name "pasta di semola di grano duro" for pasta made only from durum wheat semolina and water, with moisture of not more than 12.5% and protein of at least 10.5% on dry matter. A bronze die leaves a rougher, matt surface that holds sauce, and a teflon die a smoother, glossier one; the choice is written into the specification with the protein figure and the cooking time. Durum wheat grain itself is on the durum wheat page.
The buyer is an importer-distributor, a wholesaler, a food-service distributor or a supermarket private-label desk, and the offer is a price per carton or per MT for a stated cut, die, protein, pack and label. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers generic durum wheat pasta from factories in Italy, Türkiye, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain, Greece, Mexico and the USA, in 500 g retail packs, 5 kg catering bags and 20 kg bulk bags, against the competent-authority health certificate, the factory's certificate of analysis for moisture, protein and contaminants, a certificate of origin and, where the market requires it, a halal certificate. For the EU, Regulation (EU) 2023/915 sets a deoxynivalenol maximum of 600 µg/kg for dry pasta and an ochratoxin A maximum of 3.0 µg/kg for products derived from unprocessed cereals, and the glyphosate MRL for wheat is 10 mg/kg. Gluten-containing cereals are emphasised on EU labels under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, and Gulf labels follow GSO 9 in Arabic with production and expiry dates on the original label. Minimum orders are confirmed per product and pack. Cartons and bags ship palletised or floor-loaded in 20-ft or 40-ft dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Send the cut, die, protein, pack, label market and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.
Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

Durum Wheat Pasta (Spaghetti, Penne, Fusilli, Macaroni; Bronze and Teflon Die) — buyer questions
What does "pasta di semola di grano duro" mean on a label?
Under Italian DPR 187/2001 it is pasta made only from durum wheat semolina and water, with moisture of not more than 12.5% and protein of at least 10.5% on dry matter. It is the specification to ask for when a buyer wants 100% durum pasta.
What is the difference between bronze die and teflon die pasta?
The die is the mould the dough is extruded through. Bronze leaves a rougher, matt surface that holds sauce; teflon leaves a smoother, glossier surface. Both are written into the specification with the cut, protein and cooking time.
Which contaminant limits apply for the EU?
Regulation (EU) 2023/915 sets 600 µg/kg deoxynivalenol for dry pasta and 3.0 µg/kg ochratoxin A for products derived from unprocessed cereals. The EU glyphosate MRL for wheat is 10 mg/kg. The certificate of analysis should cover them.
What is the minimum order?
It is confirmed per product and pack. Several cuts can often be combined in one container.
