PCE Superplasticiser (Liquid 40-50% & Powder) and Calcium / Sodium Lignosulphonate

Polycarboxylate ether high-range water reducers and lignosulphonate plasticisers for ready-mix, precast and admixture blenders

Concrete admixtures are classified by what they do to water demand. ASTM C494 Type A water reducers cut mixing water by 5-12% at the same consistency; Type F and G high-range water reducers cut it by 12-30%. Lignosulphonates are the classic Type A and Type D (retarding) chemistry; polycarboxylate ethers are the high-range chemistry that dominates modern ready-mix and precast work, and EN 934-2 is the European counterpart under which admixtures are CE-marked. A PCE mother liquor is bought on solids (40% or 50%), pH, density and chloride: a published producer sheet gives pH 9.0, density 1,120 kg/m³, chloride 0.1%, dosage of about 0.02-0.3% by weight of cement and water reduction up to 40%, packed in 200 kg drums or 1,100 kg tanks with a shelf life of twelve months. Powder PCE is the same polymer spray-dried for dry-mix mortar, grout and tile adhesive plants. Calcium lignosulphonate powder from sulphite pulping is specified on lignosulphonate content (50-55% minimum by grade), reducing sugars (around 7%), moisture (7% maximum), calcium and magnesium (5-8%) and water solubility, in 25 kg woven bags with inner liner; sodium lignosulphonate is the sodium salt used where calcium is unwanted. Beyond concrete, lignosulphonates are binders for feed pellets and mineral briquettes, dispersants for dyes, pigments and ceramics, dust suppressants and drilling-fluid thinners.

Lignosulphonates are HS 3804.00, and Borregaard at Sarpsborg in Norway, with more than 90 years in lignin chemistry, is the reference producer of the wood-based product. The buyer is a ready-mix or precast concrete producer, an admixture formulator blending mother liquor with retarders and defoamers, a dry-mix mortar plant, a feed or fertiliser granulator, or a ceramics, dye or drilling-fluid user. Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
