Pressed Mints & Dragees (Compressed Tablets & Sugar-Panned Sweets)

Compressed mint tablets in tins and dispensers, and hard-panned sugar dragees, sugar or sugar-free

Pressed mints are made like tablets. Sugar lines use dextrose and sucrose and sugar-free lines use isomalt, maltitol, xylitol or sorbitol, bound with corn syrup or hydrocolloids such as gum arabic or gelatine, lubricated with magnesium stearate, calcium stearate or stearic acid, and compressed on a tablet press; in wet granulation the granulate is dried to about 0.2-0.8% moisture before pressing. The result is dry and stable: a confectionery technical reference gives compressed tablet candies a shelf life of several months to over a year in cool, dry storage, and the pack is usually a plastic tin, a flip-top dispenser, individual wrappers, a resealable pouch or a box. Dragees are hard-panned sweets: a centre built up in a rotating pan with layer after layer of sugar syrup until it carries a crunchy, polished shell. On this page the centres are non-cocoa (sugar, mint, fruit or chewy centres), because a chocolate centre takes the sweet into HS 1806. White shells and white mints are the place to check additives: titanium dioxide (E171) has not been permitted in EU food since 2022, so EU-bound lines are whitened without it. Sugar-free mints sweetened with polyols may classify outside heading 1704 and are confirmed with the destination's customs. Sugar lines are HS 1704.90, where UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations total USD 16.55 billion and about 4.28 million MT across 133 reporters for all non-cocoa sugar confectionery other than gum, led by Germany (USD 2.03 billion), China (USD 1.65 billion), Mexico (USD 1.22 billion), the Netherlands (USD 1.00 billion), Belgium (USD 999 million), Spain (USD 931 million), Türkiye (USD 859 million) and Poland (USD 755 million).

The buyer is a convenience and checkout retailer, an importer-distributor, a supermarket private-label desk, a hospitality or promotional-pack buyer, or a wholesaler, buying a stated tablet or dragee, sweetener, flavour, pack and label. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers generic pressed mints and sugar dragees from factories in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Türkiye, China, Mexico, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Egypt and Pakistan and from UAE re-exporters, against the competent-authority health certificate, the factory's certificate of analysis, a certificate of origin, a halal certificate from a body the destination accepts (a gelatine binder or stearate of animal origin is documented), and label artwork checked before printing. Labels follow the market: in the EU, sugar-free mints with more than 10% added polyols carry "excessive consumption may produce laxative effects" (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex III) and coloured dragees using E110, E104, E122, E129, E102 or E124 carry the Annex V warning of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008; Gulf labels follow GSO 9 in Arabic with printed production and expiry dates; US labels follow 21 CFR 101 with FD&C batch-certified colours and the nine major allergens. Minimum orders are the factory's, and printed tins and dispensers usually carry their own run minimum. Mints and dragees ship in 20-ft or 40-ft dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Send the product, sweetener, flavour, pack, carton count, label market and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
