Household, container, converter and pharma foil 0.2 mm and under, jumbo rolls by alloy, temper and gauge

Aluminium foil is bought as jumbo rolls on alloy, temper, gauge and the condition of the surface, because the foil goes straight onto a rewinder, a container press or a laminator and every pinhole, oil stain or loose wrap shows up there. Household roll foil is 8011 or 1235 in soft O temper, rewound by the buyer into consumer rolls; container foil for trays and takeaway dishes is 8011, 8006 or 3003 in H22 or H24, where the alloy and temper set how deep the tray draws without cracking; converter foil for flexible packaging, lids and cable wrap is 1235, 8079 or 8011 in O temper, laminated to paper or film; pharmaceutical foil is 8021 or 8079 for cold-form blister base and lidding, where pinhole count and consistent elongation are the specification. Chemistry follows EN 573-3 and, for food and pharma use, EN 602; mechanical properties and tolerances follow EN 546-2 and EN 546-3 or ASTM B479. The buyer specifies gauge in microns with its tolerance, width, core inner diameter (commonly 76 or 152 mm), outer diameter or roll weight, one-side bright or two-side bright, wettability (brush test) for foil that will be lacquered or laminated, pinhole limits and splice count per roll. Unbacked foil ships as bare jumbo rolls; backed foil, laminated to paper, board or plastic, is still HS 7607 when the aluminium itself is 0.2 mm or less. Food contact is part of the contract: EU buyers need a declaration of compliance under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 with good manufacturing practice under Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006, and US buyers need foil and any lacquer or coating to meet FDA food-contact requirements. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 7607 put the reporter total at USD 13.3 billion and 2.77 million MT, led by China at 1.56 million MT (USD 5.7 billion, about USD 3,664/MT declared), Germany at 0.28 million MT (about USD 6,080/MT), Türkiye at 0.14 million MT (about USD 3,989/MT), Italy at 0.13 million MT (about USD 5,800/MT), Thailand at 0.11 million MT (about USD 3,939/MT), India at 54,000 MT (about USD 4,608/MT) and Malaysia at 45,000 MT (about USD 4,360/MT).

The buyers are household-foil rewinders and private-label packers, container-foil tray makers supplying caterers, airlines and takeaway chains, flexible-packaging converters and laminators, cable and insulation manufacturers, pharmaceutical blister packers and their lidding suppliers, and the distributors that sell jumbo rolls to smaller rewinders. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers aluminium foil from foil mills and mill-affiliated traders in Asia, Europe and Türkiye to those buyers against a mill test certificate per roll lot reporting alloy, temper, gauge, tensile strength, elongation, pinholes and wettability, stating the country where the primary aluminium was smelted and the country where it was cast, with no metal of excluded origin in the chain; the EU, UK and US check smelt-and-cast origin on import. Aluminium foil is covered by the EU carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), so the EU importer needs the mill's embedded-emissions data. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties apply to aluminium foil from certain origins in several destinations, and checking the rate for the specific mill and origin at the port of discharge is the buyer's check before contracting. Jumbo rolls are packed with desiccant in plastic film, suspended by the core or laid in fumigated wooden cases, or stood eye-to-sky on wooden pallets, in 20-ft containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Send the application, alloy and temper, gauge and width, core and roll weight, bright sides, wettability and pinhole requirements, food-contact documents needed, monthly tonnage and discharge port.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
