Frozen Parathas & Flatbreads (Laccha, Aloo, Plain Paratha, IQF Layered)

A frozen paratha is a layered, fat-laminated wheat flatbread that the buyer heats on a pan from frozen, and three styles carry most of the trade: laccha paratha with many flaky layers, aloo paratha stuffed with spiced potato, and plain paratha, also sold as Malaysian-style roti paratha or Kerala-style parotta. Parathas are sold raw (rolled and frozen, cooked through on the pan) or half-cooked, and the pieces are either interleaved with film in a stack or individually quick frozen so they separate without thawing. Buyers specify the style, the diameter and piece weight, the fat used - vegetable oil, margarine or ghee - the count per pack and the pack: printed retail pouches or boxes and catering cartons. Customs practice at origin uses HS 1905.90, the residual bakers' wares subheading, for frozen paratha exports from India and Malaysia; Indian GST authorities have ruled on ready-to-cook parathas under a different heading for domestic tax, which does not change the customs declaration. HS 1905.90 is a catch-all covering bread, cakes and pastries, about USD 35 billion in 2024 UN Comtrade export declarations, so it is not a paratha market size. In that code, 2024 declarations show Malaysia at USD 728 million, India at USD 201 million and Pakistan at USD 30 million across all bakers' wares. Parathas are held at -18 °C or colder; one Indian manufacturer's published listing states a 12-month shelf life at -18 °C, and each offer states the manufacturer's own date.

The buyer is an importer-distributor of South Asian and Southeast Asian foods, a supermarket private-label desk, a restaurant and quick-service wholesaler or an airline, labour-camp or institutional caterer in the Gulf, Europe, North America, Southeast Asia or Africa, and the offer is a price per carton for a stated style, weight and count. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers frozen parathas from manufacturers in India, Pakistan, Malaysia and the UAE, in the manufacturer's brand or the buyer's private label, against the origin authority's health certificate, the manufacturer's certificate of analysis and a halal certificate that covers the fat or ghee, the emulsifiers and any flavouring. EU labels emphasise gluten and, for ghee or butter parathas, milk under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011; a paratha made with ghee or butter contains a dairy product and is a composite product under Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2292, needing the composite products health certificate for the EU, while a vegetable-oil paratha is not. Baked and pan-cooked cereal products fall within the acrylamide mitigation rules of Regulation (EU) 2017/2158. Gulf labels follow GSO 9 with Arabic text, SFDA registration applies for Saudi Arabia, and US importers verify the manufacturer under the FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Program. Cartons move in 40-ft high-cube reefers at -18 °C on FOB, CFR and CIF terms; minimum runs are confirmed per product and pack. Send the style, diameter, piece weight, fat, count, pack, label and discharge port and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
