Gasoil 500 ppm / 50 ppm (AGO)
Automotive & industrial gas oil for markets outside EN590
Gasoil is diesel by another name, and the grades differ almost entirely on sulphur. EN590 10 ppm is the European automotive standard and has its own page. This page covers everything else: 50 ppm automotive gasoil, which is now the floor in ECOWAS, East Africa and much of Asia; 500 ppm, still imported by markets whose standards lag and by mines and power producers; and the 0.1% and 0.5% industrial and marine grades that feed generators, boilers and, as MGO, ships. The rest of the specification follows the same pattern across grades: cetane number or index at 48–51 minimum, density 820–870 kg/m³, flash point 60–66 °C minimum depending on the standard, distillation with 90% recovered by 360 °C, cold-flow properties (cloud and CFPP) set to the destination climate, water and sediment, ash and carbon residue. Cold flow is the one that catches buyers, because a summer-grade cargo into a highland or winter market gels in the tank.
Buy gasoil as a cargo when you are a fuel importer, a power producer or independent power plant running diesel generation, a mining operation with its own storage, or a bunker supplier; parcels run from about 5,000 MT coastal to 30,000–40,000 MT in an MR, priced as a differential to the published gasoil assessment for the loading region. The West African, East African and Indian Ocean markets on this desk take Gulf, Indian and Mediterranean cargo. We work one way: a named refinery or term holder, a stated quantity and laycan, independent inspection at load, and payment against shipping documents under a documentary letter of credit; nothing is quoted until the title holder and loading terminal are known to us. CBIL brokers 50 ppm, 500 ppm and industrial-grade gasoil on FOB, CFR and CIF terms.

Gasoil 500 ppm / 50 ppm (AGO) — buyer questions
Which sulphur grade can I import?
The one your national standard allows today, and that is moving down: ECOWAS and East Africa require 50 ppm, several Asian markets have gone to 10 ppm, and 500 ppm is legal in fewer places each year. Off-grade cargo is refused at discharge, so we source against the destination's current rule. If your market has just tightened, tell us; the cargo that was fine last year may not be now.
How does gasoil differ from EN590?
Sulphur, mainly. EN590 is the European automotive specification at 10 ppm with tighter cetane, density and polyaromatics limits. Gasoil at 50 or 500 ppm is the same distillate with more sulphur and looser limits, and the 0.1% and 0.5% grades are industrial and marine fuels. If your engines and your regulator accept 50 ppm, it is cheaper than EN590 and easier to source into Africa and the Indian Ocean.
Why do cold-flow properties matter in a hot country?
Because the highlands are not hot at night and the fuel may be stored or used far from the coast. Cloud point and CFPP describe when wax forms and when the fuel stops flowing through a filter; a summer-grade cargo can gel in a highland mine or a winter port. State the lowest temperature the fuel will see and the cargo will be cut to it.
What do you need to start?
Your licence and role, the discharge port with draft and tank capacity, the grade and sulphur to your standard, quantity and window, and a bank that can open a documentary letter of credit we can confirm. We then go to a named refinery or term holder. Offers without a nameable seller, terminal and inspectable cargo are not offers we handle.
