ULSD 10 ppm / ASTM D975 S15 Diesel

Ultra-low-sulphur diesel to ASTM D975 No. 2-D S15 and 10 ppm Asian grades

Ultra-low-sulphur diesel is a family, not one specification. EN590, the European standard at 10 mg/kg sulphur with a cetane number of at least 51, has its own page at /commodities/en590-diesel. This page covers the other ULSD grades: ASTM D975 No. 2-D S15, the US general-purpose diesel at 15 ppm sulphur maximum with a cetane minimum of 40, loaded on the US Gulf Coast and priced against the Platts Gulf Coast export ULSD assessment; and the 10 ppm gasoil grades traded out of Asia and assessed by Platts at Singapore. The practical difference for a buyer is the engine and the regulator: D975 cetane and cold-flow limits are looser than EN590, and a market that writes EN590 into its standard will not accept a D975 certificate. Cold flow (cloud point and CFPP) is set to the destination climate in both cases. For 50 ppm and 500 ppm gasoil, see our gasoil page.

Buy ULSD as a cargo when you are an importer, marketer or fleet operator with tank capacity and a standard that calls for 10–15 ppm sulphur. South Korea is Asia's top clean products exporter, with about 412 million barrels of gasoline, jet/kerosene and gasoil shipped in 2025; Singapore is the Asian pricing and storage hub; US Gulf Coast refiners export cargoes priced against the Platts Gulf Coast export ULSD assessment. Cargoes move in MR and LR product tankers under MARPOL Annex I. We work one way: the producing refinery named on the certificate of quality, SGS or Intertek at load, a named buyer, and payment against shipping documents under a documentary letter of credit; no deals on tank-storage receipts, dip tests or advance-fee procedures. CBIL brokers ULSD on FOB, CFR and CIF terms.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

ULSD 10 ppm / ASTM D975 S15 Diesel — buyer questions

How does ULSD differ from EN590?

EN590 is one ULSD standard, European, at 10 mg/kg sulphur and cetane 51 minimum. ASTM D975 No. 2-D S15 allows 15 ppm and sets cetane at 40 minimum. Your national standard decides which certificate is accepted at discharge; if it names EN590, see our EN590 page.

How does it differ from gasoil 500 ppm?

Sulphur. Gasoil at 50 or 500 ppm is the same distillate with more sulphur, for markets whose standards allow it. ULSD is for markets and engines that require 10–15 ppm.

How is ULSD priced?

As a differential to a published assessment for the loading region over an agreed window: Platts Gulf Coast export ULSD for US cargoes, Platts Singapore 10 ppm gasoil for Asian cargoes, with Argus also publishing. A flat number without a reference is not a price in this market.

What do you need to start?

Your licence and role, the discharge port with draft and tank capacity, the standard your regulator applies, quantity and window, and your payment bank. We then go to a named refinery. Offers built on tank-storage receipts, dip tests or advance fees are not offers we handle.
