Guar Splits and Guar Meal (Refined Splits, Guar Korma, Guar Churi)
Refined guar splits for gum milling and guar korma and churi protein meal for cattle feed
A guar seed is roughly 14-17% hull, 35-42% endosperm and 43-47% germ. Processors split the seed, remove hull and germ, and sell the endosperm halves as refined guar splits to gum mills and derivative plants, which is the form traded on NCDEX's guar gum refined splits contract. What is left becomes animal feed: guar korma is the germ fraction, coarser and higher in protein, which one Indian processor publishes at up to 52% protein and up to 60% after roasting, the roasting removing natural trypsin inhibitors; guar churi is the hull-rich fraction, a coarse powder published at up to 38% protein and used in place of cotton and soya oil cakes. Korma is favoured in cattle and dairy rations. Splits sit with guar gum under HS 1302.32 and the meal is declared as a feed residue under HS 2308.00, with the national line confirmed with the importer's broker. NCDEX launched guar korma futures for trading from 24 July 2026, a price reference for the Indian feed market.
The buyer of splits is a gum mill or derivative plant outside India, and the buyer of korma and churi is a feed miller, dairy or cattle feedlot operator or a feed ingredient trader. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers guar splits and guar meal from processors in India against the processor's certificate of analysis: for splits, gum content, moisture and the viscosity of the gum they yield; for meal, protein, fibre, moisture and aflatoxin to the destination's feed limits. Feed-bound meal for the EU is checked against the undesirable substances rules and the entry conditions for Indian guar products under Regulation (EU) 2019/1793, which have required pentachlorophenol analysis. Splits and meal move in bags or bulk bags in 20-ft dry containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, priced per MT on protein or gum content. Send the product, protein or gum content, pack, volume and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.
Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

Guar Splits and Guar Meal (Refined Splits, Guar Korma, Guar Churi) — buyer questions
What is the difference between guar korma and guar churi?
Korma is the germ fraction left after the endosperm is removed, coarser and higher in protein, published at up to 52% and up to 60% after roasting. Churi is the hull-rich fraction, a coarse powder published at up to 38% protein and used in place of cotton and soya oil cakes.
Why does roasting matter for guar korma?
Roasting at high temperature removes natural trypsin inhibitors in the germ, which improves digestibility, and processors publish higher protein figures for roasted korma.
Who buys guar splits?
Gum mills and derivative plants that grind the endosperm into guar gum powder or modify it into HPG and CMHPG. Splits are bought on gum content, moisture and the viscosity of the gum they yield.
Which market reference is used for guar meal?
NCDEX launched guar korma futures with trading from 24 July 2026, alongside its guar seed and refined splits contracts. They show the Indian market's direction; export offers are made per MT on protein, pack and Incoterm.
