Apple Juice Concentrate (Clear 70-72 °Brix)
Clear 70-72 °Brix concentrate bought on colour at 440 nm, clarity, acidity and patulin
Apple juice concentrate is the largest-volume juice concentrate by weight and the neutral base of the juice and soft drink industry: pressed apple juice that is depectinised, filtered clear, evaporated to 70-72 °Brix and packed aseptically; under Directive 2012/12/EU flavour from the same fruit may be restored to the concentrate. Buyers specify the Brix (70 °Brix ± 1 is the common tolerance), the acidity as malic acid at 70 °Brix (low, medium or high acid, typically in a 1.0-3.0% band), colour as transmittance at 440 nm (T440) measured on the diluted juice at about 11.5-12 °Brix, clarity as transmittance at 625 nm, turbidity in NTU (one published specification sets ≤ 5 NTU) and the patulin result. Patulin is the mycotoxin that comes from mouldy fruit and the limit that decides whether a lot is saleable: the EU sets 50 µg/kg in fruit juices under Regulation (EU) 2023/915, and the US FDA action level is 50 µg/kg measured on single-strength or reconstituted juice (CPG Sec. 510.150). Reconstituted apple juice sold in the EU must reach at least 11.2 °Brix under Directive 2012/12/EU. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations for apple juice above 20 °Brix (HS 2009.79) total USD 2.74 billion and about 1.52 million MT across reporters: China USD 825 million and 534,866 MT at an average USD 1,543/MT, Poland USD 440 million and about 210,300 MT, Türkiye USD 433 million and about 215,900 MT, Ukraine USD 218 million and 107,945 MT, Austria USD 97 million, Hungary USD 71 million, Chile USD 71 million and 36,116 MT and Argentina USD 9 million and 5,803 MT.
The buyer is a juice packer, a soft drink or flavoured water bottler, a beverage blender or an ingredients distributor, and the offer is a price per tonne of concentrate for a stated Brix, acidity, colour and packing. Chinese supply comes from processors with plants in Shaanxi, Shandong, Shanxi and other apple regions; the Polish, Turkish and Ukrainian plants run on the European crop, and Chile and Argentina pack counter-season. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers apple juice concentrate from these origins on FCA, FOB, CFR and CIF terms against the processor's certificate of analysis for Brix, acidity, T440, clarity, NTU and patulin, pesticide residue results against EU or US maximum residue levels (applied to the concentrate with the processing factor under Article 20 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 for EU-bound product), a certificate of origin with the processing plant named, a health or phytosanitary certificate as the destination requires, a halal certificate from the destination's accepted certifier and authenticity checks to the AIJN Code of Practice, with SGF/IRMA certification where the buyer's system requires it. Aseptic concentrate travels in a sterile bag inside a 200-220 litre drum, about 250 kg net, in 20-ft dry containers; frozen or refrigerated lots go in reefers. The concentrate is non-alcoholic juice for beverages, food and sweetening, and its ethanol content is reported on the COA within the limit on the halal certificate. Send the Brix, acidity, colour, NTU, patulin limit, packing, volume and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.
Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

Apple Juice Concentrate (Clear 70-72 °Brix) — buyer questions
What is the patulin limit for apple juice concentrate?
In the EU, Regulation (EU) 2023/915 sets 50 µg/kg for fruit juices, 25 µg/kg for solid apple products and 10 µg/kg for foods for infants and young children. The US FDA action level is 50 µg/kg measured on single-strength juice or on the concentrate reconstituted to single strength (CPG Sec. 510.150). The processor's certificate of analysis reports patulin per lot, and buyers packing for infant or premium lines state a tighter limit with the enquiry.
What do T440 and NTU mean on an apple concentrate specification?
T440 is the light transmittance at 440 nm of the concentrate diluted to about 11.5-12 °Brix: a higher figure means a paler juice, which clear drinks need. NTU is turbidity: the lower the figure, the clearer the juice and the lower the risk of haze after bottling. Clarity is also given as transmittance at 625 nm. Each is reported on the certificate of analysis and is part of the offer.
Aseptic or frozen: how should apple juice concentrate be stored and shipped?
Most clear apple concentrate is packed aseptically in a sterile bag inside a 200-220 litre drum, about 250 kg net, and ships in 20-ft dry containers as long as the bag stays intact; many buyers still hold it cool to protect colour. Frozen or refrigerated lots ship in reefers. The storage temperature and shelf life are stated on the processor's specification and confirmed on the proforma.
Which documents come with apple juice concentrate?
The certificate of analysis for Brix, acidity, T440, clarity, NTU and patulin, pesticide residue results against EU or US maximum residue levels, a certificate of origin naming the processing plant, a health or phytosanitary certificate as the destination requires, and a halal certificate from the destination's accepted certifier. Authenticity is checked to the AIJN Code of Practice, and SGF/IRMA certification is supplied where the buyer's quality system requires it. The concentrate is non-alcoholic juice for beverages, food and sweetening.
