Pineapple Juice Concentrate (60 °Brix Aseptic)

60 °Brix aseptic concentrate from Thailand, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Kenya and Indonesia

Pineapple juice concentrate is pineapple juice evaporated to about 60 °Brix and packed aseptically, and much of it is made by the same processors that can pineapple, so the trade follows the canneries of Thailand, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Kenya and Indonesia. Buyers specify the corrected Brix (60 °Brix is the standard; 65 °Brix is also packed), the acidity as citric acid (one published specification gives 3.05 ± 1.25%), the pH, the pulp content (cloudy concentrate carries 5-20% pulp by volume; clarified concentrate is filtered clear), the colour and the microbiological result. Reconstituted pineapple juice sold in the EU must reach at least 12.8 °Brix under Directive 2012/12/EU. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations for pineapple juice above 20 °Brix (HS 2009.49) total USD 545 million and about 311,000 MT across reporters: the Philippines USD 102 million and about 118,700 MT, Thailand USD 86 million and about 34,600 MT at an average USD 2,486/MT, Costa Rica USD 79 million and 34,285 MT, Indonesia USD 47 million and 19,818 MT, and Kenya USD 16 million and 9,276 MT, with the Netherlands declaring USD 105 million as the EU distribution trade. Under HS 2009.41 (20 °Brix or less) Costa Rica declared a further USD 95 million and about 128,200 MT. In Kenya, Del Monte's Thika operation lists juice concentrate as its largest product line and exports almost all of it.

The buyer is a juice and nectar packer, a tropical blend or soft drink bottler, a dairy or ice cream producer or an ingredients distributor in the Gulf, Europe, South Asia or Africa, and the offer is a price per tonne for a stated Brix, acidity, pulp and packing. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers pineapple juice concentrate from Thai, Philippine, Costa Rican, Kenyan and Indonesian processors on FCA, FOB, CFR and CIF terms against the processor's certificate of analysis for Brix, acidity, pH, pulp and microbiology, pesticide residue results against EU or US maximum residue levels, a certificate of origin, a health or phytosanitary certificate as the destination requires, a halal certificate from the destination's accepted certifier and authenticity checks to the AIJN Code of Practice, with SGF/IRMA certification where the buyer's system requires it. Aseptic concentrate travels in a sterile bag inside a 200-220 litre steel drum, about 265 kg net, in 20-ft dry containers; one published specification gives a shelf life of 365 days at about 21 °C, 730 days refrigerated and 1,095 days frozen, so buyers holding stock for a season often choose cold storage or frozen drums in reefers. The concentrate is non-alcoholic juice for beverages and food, and its ethanol content is reported on the COA within the limit on the halal certificate. Send the Brix, cloudy or clear, acidity, packing, volume and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.

Pineapple Juice Concentrate (60 °Brix Aseptic) — buyer questions

What is the standard Brix for pineapple juice concentrate?

60 °Brix is the standard trade concentration, and some processors also pack 65 °Brix. The Brix is quoted corrected for acidity, and the certificate of analysis gives it with the acidity as citric acid, the pH and the pulp. For EU retail, the reconstituted juice must reach at least 12.8 °Brix under Directive 2012/12/EU.

What is the difference between cloudy and clarified pineapple concentrate?

Cloudy concentrate keeps the fine pulp - one published specification gives 5-20% by volume - and gives the body and colour expected in pineapple juice and nectar. Clarified concentrate is filtered clear for clear drinks and blends. The two are priced and specified separately, so state which one with the enquiry.

Can aseptic pineapple concentrate ship without a reefer?

Yes, aseptic bag-in-drum concentrate ships in 20-ft dry containers while the sterile bag stays intact. Shelf life depends on storage: one published specification gives 365 days at about 21 °C, 730 days refrigerated and 1,095 days frozen. Buyers holding stock through a season often take cold storage on arrival or frozen drums in reefers, and the processor's specification states the storage conditions.

Which documents come with pineapple juice concentrate?

The processor's certificate of analysis for Brix, acidity, pH, pulp and microbiology, pesticide residue results against EU or US maximum residue levels, a certificate of origin, a health or phytosanitary certificate as the destination requires and a halal certificate from the destination's accepted certifier. Authenticity is checked to the AIJN Code of Practice, and SGF/IRMA certification is supplied where the buyer's system requires it. The concentrate is non-alcoholic juice for beverages and food.
