DL-Methionine 99% & Methionine Hydroxy Analogue (MHA)

DL-methionine powder at 99% and liquid hydroxy analogue at 88%, bought on content and handling

Methionine reaches feed in two chemical forms, and a feed mill prices them on the value its formulation assigns to each and on how its plant doses them. DL-methionine (HS 2930.40) is sold as a white, free-flowing powder: EU identification number 3c301 covers DL-methionine, technically pure, at 99% minimum, and 3c302 a liquid sodium DL-methionine at 40% minimum. The hydroxy analogue of methionine, 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio)butanoic acid or HMTBa, carries a hydroxy group where methionine has its amino group and is declared under HS 2930.90: EU entry 3c307 sets the liquid at 88% minimum with water at 12% maximum, and 3c3108 covers the calcium salt at 84% minimum HMTBa and 11.7% minimum calcium. The liquid is dosed automatically, without dust, and is delivered to bulk storage or in IBCs or drums by ship, truck or train. Ruminant diets use protected forms, such as DL-methionine coated with ethylcellulose at 85% minimum (3c304) or with a vinylpyridine-styrene copolymer at 74% minimum (3c303), and L-methionine made by fermentation has its own EU authorisations. The methionine and HMTBa entries were set by Implementing Regulation (EU) No 469/2013. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 2930.40 total USD 1.14 billion and 466,400 MT across 61 reporters: China USD 602 million and 260,000 MT, Malaysia USD 184 million and 75,800 MT, France USD 165 million and 63,000 MT, Germany USD 74 million and 28,400 MT, Japan USD 30 million and 11,500 MT and the Netherlands USD 25 million. China's declared methionine exports rose from 154,300 MT in 2023 to 260,000 MT in 2024.

US-bound methionine carries its own duty check. Anti-dumping duty orders on methionine from France, issued in July 2021, and from Japan and Spain, issued in September 2021, cover both methionine and HMTBa regardless of purity, particle size, grade or physical form, including product converted between liquid and dry forms in a third country, and exclude USP-grade methionine; they list HTSUS 2930.40.00 and 2930.90.46. Cash deposit rates are set company by company and revised in annual reviews, and five-year sunset reviews of the three orders were instituted on 1 June 2026. The buyer is a compound feed mill, premix plant or poultry integrator choosing between a powder added by the bag and a liquid metered from a tank. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers DL-methionine and MHA from producers and trader positions in China, Malaysia, France, Germany, Japan and Spain against the producer's certificate of analysis for methionine or HMTBa content and moisture or water, a certificate of origin naming the plant, the EU identification number on EU-bound labels, the producer's FAMI-QS or GMP+ certificate and a halal certificate where the destination requires one. Powder lots move in bags or bulk bags in containers and liquid HMTBa in bulk, IBCs or drums, on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, priced per MT on content and pack; minimum lots are confirmed per product and pack. Send the form, content, volume, pack and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
