L-Threonine 98.5% & L-Valine (Feed Grade)

Fermentation amino acids for feed, bought on purity, moisture and the duty position of the origin

L-threonine and L-valine are made by fermentation and sold to feed mills and premix plants as purified powders, and their chemistry puts them under different customs codes. US Customs classifies feed-grade L-threonine under HTSUS 2922.50, amino-compounds with oxygen function: a 2022 ruling on Chinese feed-grade threonine records production by fermentation of starch, molasses and sugar, a nutrient content of 98-98.5%, use in poultry and swine feed and shipment as powder in 25 kg bags. L-valine is declared under HS 2922.49 with the other amino acids of a single oxygen function; the European Commission describes it as made by bio-fermentation of beet or corn sugar and used in animal feed, pharmaceutical and food markets. EU authorisations set L-threonine at 98.5% minimum with moisture at 1% maximum (for example 3c412) and L-valine at 98% minimum on a dry basis (3c370), and each identification number is tied to the production strain named in its regulation, so the producer's authorisation must cover the strain behind the lot. Trade statistics blur both products. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 2922.50 total USD 3.37 billion, a subheading shared with other amino-compounds with oxygen function, and China declared 721,800 MT of it, against 46,800 MT from the Netherlands and 7,300 MT from Brazil; under HS 2922.49, China declared USD 1.50 billion and 582,700 MT of USD 3.87 billion in world exports.

Chinese valine bound for the EU carries definitive anti-dumping duties of 31.3% to 53.8% under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/319 of 12 February 2026, covering valine and its esters and salts as a separate chemically defined compound. In that investigation the Commission found Indonesia to be the only other country shipping valine to the EU and identified Brazil and Indonesia as valine-producing countries. The buyer is a compound feed or premix producer formulating pig and poultry diets, or a feed distributor. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers L-threonine and L-valine from producers in China, Indonesia and Brazil against the producer's certificate of analysis for purity and moisture, a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, the EU identification number on EU-bound labels, the producer's FAMI-QS or GMP+ certificate and a halal certificate where the destination requires one. US-bound lots name the plant, because goods made wholly or in part in Xinjiang are presumed barred from US entry under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. Lots move in 25 kg bags or bulk bags in containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, priced per MT on purity and pack, and minimum lots are confirmed per product and pack. Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
