L-Lysine HCl 98.5% & L-Lysine Sulphate (Feed Grade)

Feed-grade lysine monohydrochloride and granulated lysine sulphate, compared on lysine per tonne

Feed lysine is made by fermentation, in which bacterial strains turn carbohydrates into the amino acid, and it is sold in forms that carry different amounts of lysine per tonne. L-lysine monohydrochloride (lysine HCl, HS 2922.41) is the purified powder: EU authorisation 3c322IV sets a minimum of 78.8% L-lysine on a dry basis with moisture at 1% maximum, which is 98.5% lysine HCl by molecular weight (lysine 146.19 of 182.65), and EU entry 3c322 allows 78% lysine with moisture at 1.5%. L-lysine sulphate keeps the proteins, sugars and other amino acids of the fermentation in a brown granule: EU entry 3c329 sets 55% lysine minimum on a dry basis with sulphate at 26.5% and moisture at 4% maximum, and the EU trade-defence definition covers feed additives of 68-80% L-lysine sulphate on a dry basis, declared under CN ex 2309 90 rather than 2922 41. Liquid lysine base at 50% minimum (3c320) is the third form. The European Commission counts one tonne of lysine sulphate as 0.705 tonne of lysine HCl, from typical contents of 55% and 78% lysine, and that is how two offers are compared. UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations under HS 2922.41 total USD 2.02 billion across 67 reporters: China USD 1.42 billion and 1.12 million MT, 70% of the value, then the Netherlands USD 168 million and 112,800 MT, the USA USD 87 million and 63,700 MT, Korea USD 86 million and 75,900 MT, Brazil USD 33 million and 28,800 MT and Indonesia USD 25 million and 21,800 MT. Lysine sulphate declared as a feed preparation is not in those figures.

Duties now split the market by destination. The EU has applied definitive anti-dumping duties of 47.7% to 58.2% on lysine HCl, liquid lysine and lysine sulphate from China since July 2025 under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1330; the Commission reopened the case on 30 April 2026 to examine whether the duty is being absorbed, and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1824 made imports subject to registration so that a recalculated duty can be levied retroactively. In the USA, Commerce issued anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on feed-grade L-lysine from China on 16 September 2026, covering lysine HCl, lysine sulphate, liquid lysine and the lysine component of base mixes, premixes and concentrates, with anti-dumping cash deposits of 73.37% to 139.65% after subsidy offsets and countervailing duty rates of 48.21% to 82.11%. US-bound lots also name the producing plant, because goods made wholly or in part in Xinjiang are presumed barred from US entry under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. The buyer is a compound feed mill, premix plant, integrator or feed distributor, and the Commission's investigation recorded EU imports from Indonesia, the USA, Korea and Brazil beside China's 70-79% market share in 2023. CBIL is a commodity brokerage company and brokers lysine HCl and lysine sulphate from producers in China, Korea, Indonesia, Brazil and the USA against the producer's certificate of analysis for lysine, moisture and, on sulphate, the sulphate content, a certificate of origin naming the plant, the EU identification number on EU-bound labels, the producer's FAMI-QS or GMP+ certificate and a halal certificate where the destination requires one. US Customs has recorded lysine sulphate imports in 25 kg bags and 1-tonne totes; lots move in containers on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, priced per MT on lysine content and pack, and minimum lots are confirmed per product and pack. Send the form, lysine content, volume, pack and discharge port, and the enquiry is screened and worked against it.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
