Turmeric
Fingers, bulbs & powder by curcumin percentage
CBIL brokers Indian turmeric in the forms and grades that buyers contract against — Alleppey Finger (high curcumin, 3.5–5%), Erode and Salem Finger, Nizamabad Bulb, Rajapuri, and machine-ground turmeric powder milled to 60–80 mesh. Curcumin percentage is the commercial variable that sets the price: Alleppey material carries the colour and oleoresin yield that extractors and seasoning houses pay for, while Erode and Nizamabad grades suit retail packing and blending where 2–3% is sufficient. Every lot ships against SGS or Intertek certification of curcumin, moisture, total and acid-insoluble ash, lead chromate (a known adulterant we test out), aflatoxin and pesticide residue.
Material is available steam-sterilised or ETO-free where the destination requires it — a hard gate for EU entry under Regulation (EC) 396/2005 and for US buyers operating to FSMA. We supply turmeric to spice grinders and blenders, curry-powder and seasoning manufacturers, oleoresin and curcumin extractors, nutraceutical formulators and retail packers, in 25kg and 50kg PP or jute bags, container-load, on FOB, CFR and CIF terms. Send your curcumin floor, mesh and sterilisation requirement and we will confirm supply against current crop.

Turmeric — buyer questions
What curcumin percentage should I specify?
It depends on end use. Extractors and premium seasoning houses typically specify Alleppey Finger at 3.5–5% curcumin. Retail packing and general blending is usually well served by Erode or Nizamabad material at 2–3%, which prices materially lower. Tell us your application and we will recommend the grade rather than over-specifying you.
Can you supply steam-sterilised turmeric for the EU?
Yes. We supply steam-sterilised and ETO-free turmeric with pesticide-residue certification to EU Regulation (EC) 396/2005 limits. ETO-treated material is not permitted for EU entry, so we default to steam sterilisation for European destinations unless you instruct otherwise.
Do you test for lead chromate adulteration?
Yes. Lead chromate is a known adulterant used to brighten turmeric colour, and it is a food-safety and regulatory risk. Every lot we broker is certified lead-chromate-absent by SGS or Intertek before shipment.
What is the minimum order quantity for turmeric?
One 20ft container, which typically loads around 18–19 MT of bagged turmeric depending on form and packaging. We can consolidate turmeric with other spice lines in a single container where volumes are smaller.
