Peru & Honduras Arabica (Organic, Fairtrade, SHB & SHG)

Washed arabica — organic & Fairtrade volume, SHB / SHG grades

Peru and Honduras are the two origins most roasters turn to when a certified arabica range needs volume. Peru is reported as the world's leading exporter of organic coffee, with about 90,000 hectares under organic certification, and as the largest supplier of Fairtrade coffee; the USDA forecasts Peruvian production for 2026/27 at 4.78 million bags and exports at 4.55 million bags, with the United States, Germany and Belgium the largest buyers. Honduras is the largest producer in Central America: the USDA's Tegucigalpa post forecasts 6.03 million bags for 2026/27 and exports of about 5.5 million bags, and reports that differentiated coffees, those carrying a certification or a quality score, made up 52% of green exports in 2024/25. Both origins sell fully washed arabica with a clean, sweet, balanced cup. Grades are named by altitude and preparation: in Honduras, SHG (strictly high grown) and HG (high grown); in Peru, Grade 1 and Grade 2 by defect count, with SHB and HB altitude names on the better lots and MCM (machine cleaned) or EP (European preparation) describing how the lot was sorted.

Buy Peru when the label needs organic, Fairtrade or both at a sensible differential, and for a smooth, mild washed coffee with good sweetness; buy Honduras SHG for a dependable washed base with more structure, and for private-label ranges that must taste the same shipment after shipment. For a certified range, the certificate is the product: check that the organic certificate and the Fairtrade registration cover the exporter and the exact lot, and that the transaction certificate travels with the documents. Lots ship in 69 kg jute bags with barrier liners against a certificate of origin (ICO certificates where issued), phytosanitary certificate, certificate of analysis and the certification documents. Green coffee under HS 0901 is in scope of the EU Deforestation Regulation from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators and 30 June 2027 for micro and small operators; the operator that first places the coffee on the EU market files a due diligence statement with plot geolocation and evidence of no deforestation after 31 December 2020. Peru's National Coffee Board has warned that smallholders need more support on land titles and geo-referenced farm data to keep EU access, so confirm the data exists before contracting. Physical lots are priced as a differential to the ICE arabica "KC" contract. CBIL brokers Peruvian and Honduran arabica against grade, preparation, cup score and certification, on FOB Callao, Paita and Puerto Cortés, CFR and CIF terms.

Excluded origins are not offered, including product re-exported, blended or re-processed through a third country. Every lot moves with a certificate of origin naming the producing plant, mine or grower country, and nothing is quoted before the seller and loading point are known.
