US bulk rock salt mined from the extensive Silurian Salina Formation deposits across the Appalachian and Michigan basins (including underground mining assets along Lake Erie and upstate New York) serves as the primary regional backbone for municipal de-icing and winter highway mobility across the US Great Lakes, Northeast, and Eastern Canada. Extracted via continuous mechanical undercutting and room-and-pillar mining, the crystalline halite boasts a consistent run-of-mine chemical purity between 98.2% and 99.2% NaCl with exceptionally low native moisture (consistently ≤0.50% at pit-head, ≤1.20% loaded). The mineral is processed through underground and surface primary/secondary roll crushing stations and vibrating screens to strictly satisfy ASTM D632 Type I Grade 1, Ontario OPSS.PROV 2502, and Quebec BNQ 2410-200 gradation envelopes. Integrated automated liquid spray bars apply calibrated 60 to 100 ppm Sodium Ferrocyanide (Yellow Prussiate of Soda / YPS) anti-caking agent to guarantee long-term free-flowing pile integrity in sub-zero dome stockpiles down to -20°C.
